This blog discusses how to write an effective academic introduction. It separates an introduction into four parts (general>specific>thesis>outline) and focuses on developing a thesis statement. This is a really nice lesson to highlight an introduction structure and show students the importance of the thesis statement. There are good model introductions for students to analyse and then they write their own. Also, there is worksheet that just focuses on writing thesis statements.
