SPSE Reading & Writing Lessons #21


Situation, Problem, Solution, Evaluation (S.P.S.E) is a common writing structure at university. This webpage introduces the SPSE structure using an obesity text (click here). Students read the text and highlight the problems, solution and evaluation in the text. There is also a similar lesson using Wind Energy.

In addition, AEUK has written three Academic SPSE Reading and Writing texts on Burj Khalifa, Fracking and Nuclear Power. These are more advanced texts where the students need to identify the SPSE from each text and then write a 400-600 word essay using these key points. The aim is to synthesis information using paraphrasing and referencing skills. Each lesson includes all texts, teacher's notes, model outline and model answer. Link:
